The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) obtained America First Policy Institute’s 1023 tax-exempt application from the Internal Revenue Service. The nonprofit spin-off of the Trump administration established in April 2021 released the name of its board chair, Linda McMahon, but not the rest of the board. The 1023 application shows that the board also includes Tim Dunn, Texas GOP donor and right-wing operative; Thomas “Tim” Lyles, chairman of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF); and Cody Campbell, billionaire GOP donor. Dunn and Campbell also serve on the board of TPPF, the state affiliate of the State Policy Network, a right-wing web of “think tanks” and tax-exempt organizations in 50 states, Washington, D.C., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
