In an email obtained by the Center for Media and Democracy through a public records request, ALEC asked its legislative members to sign a letter thanking FL Gov. DeSantis for reopening the state in late-May. ALEC was to hold its Annual Meeting in Orlando in mid-July, but it eventually went virtual as COVID cases spiked. The letter states, among other things, that “Governor DeSantis has wisely taken the first steps to safely reopen Florida.”
