Election season is upon us and the billionaire Koch brothers have opened their wallets wide. The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) has reported on the “Koch candidates” at the federal level and their candidates for law enforcement and the courts in 2018.
Now we bring you the Koch state-level candidates of 2018.
The billionaire Koch brothers have identified 129 candidates for governor, state representative, and state senator in 16 states, a careful analysis of Koch Industries Political Action Committee (KochPAC) filings, state campaign finance databases, and news sites shows.
The Koch network announced in January at its Donor Summit that it committed to spend $400 million in the 2018 midterms, almost double what it spent in the 2014 midterms.
A fraction of that commitment is visible here. Much of Team Koch’s expenditures are made on i360, its data analytics company, which compiles information on the “199 million active voters”; and on its front groups, including Americans for Prosperity, Concerned Veterans for America, Freedom Partners Action Fund, Generation Opportunity, and The LIBRE Initiative.
Koch Governors
The Kochs continue to demonstrate their preference for Republican governors and lieutenant governors across the country, with massive investments in the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and in nine individual campaigns this election cycle.
Koch Industries gave $525,000 in 2017 and another $250,000 to date in 2018 to RGA, while the Kochs have given nothing over the last two years to the Democratic Governors Association.
The Kochs have contributed to incumbents Gov. Kay Ivey (AL), Gov. Doug Ducey (AZ), Gov. Bruce Rauner (IL), and Gov. Greg Abbott (TX). Charles Koch also made individual contributions to Ducey, Rauner, and Abbott.
New candidates for governor to whom the Kochs have contributed so far this election cycle include Bill Schuette in Michigan, Adam Laxalt in Nevada, and Todd Lamb in Oklahoma.
Koch State Representatives and Senators
Team Koch has already identified and given to a whopping 120 state representatives and senators in ten states, only four of whom are democrats.
Twenty-eight of these “Koch candidates” for office are members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the corporate bill mill that has received millions in Koch cash.
The Koch Star State of Texas–which CMD revealed was a large beneficiary of the Kochs in the 2016 election cycle–again tops all states, with 38 legislative candidates receiving support from the billionaires.

Yes, our entire federal government is under attack by seen and unseen forces! Trump, Fox News, Pence, Koch brothers and their secret millionaire/billionaire donors, right-wing think tanks, and conservative political nonprofit advocacy groups have launched an all out assault to destroy the main stream media, federal government institutions, labor unions, voting rights, and immigrants. ALEC has been busy secretly lobbying state & federal elected officials to introduce and pass legislation ALEC has listed on their political agenda. The ALEC model bills are used by legislators as a guideline when they are drafting their bills which pretty much mimics the model bills that ALEC wrote. If Congress passes the FY2019 budget as written, and a majority of the ALEC sponsored and Koch brothers supported legislation passes and enacted into law, a majority of hard working American families will be decimated by the federal budget cuts to education and social programs, rising health insurance premiums, cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and possibly new taxes & fees imposed that’s collected for the US Highway Trust Fund to pay for highway maintenance costs, mass transit projects and major bridge repairs.

Actions always speak louder than words. ALWAYS. It is not just this president or just this administration, it is the Republican party in general. They built Trump. Brick by brick. Stone by stone. Policy by policy. They enable him to this day. They aid and abet his criminal activities day by day. He and way too many of them attack our institutions every day.
Our education system is under attack.
Freedom of the press is under attack.
An independent judiciary is under attack.
Our National Intelligence and Security Agencies are under attack.
The independence of our Department of Justice is under attack.
Our national electoral process is under attack and this administration and this Republican-controlled Congress do nothing except attack those who are trying to find out the truth and fix the problem.
The only thing #45IsIllegitimate had right during the campaign (and since) is that the election was “rigged”. It WAS rigged, just not as he implied. AND NOT JUST BY FOREIGN POWERS. Extreme gerrymandering, voter suppression laws, and Crosscheck Purging, if YOUR party has to use these unAmerican tactics what does it say about YOUR party and their agenda? If YOU support these unAmerican tactics what does it say about YOU.
Today’s Republican Party has become the party of lies, fear, and hate. Today’s Republican Party is ‘A Clear and Present Danger’ to our country and our way of life. Vote. Vote Blue. Vote in every election from local to national. EVERY ELECTION.
